If you have watched my videos on youtube, then you know exactly what I am all about. Booking a workshop with me is like living one of my video adventures. Not only will I be there with you the entire workshop, but I will put you in front of some of the best Roseate Spoonbill photography opportunities on the planet. I will also help you capture incredible images by not only helping you with your gear but by also helping you approach birds and compose beautiful images that you will be proud of. Most people walk away with dozens of images they wind up having printed. You will too.

I know Florida like the back of my hand and I know bird behavior as if it were my own. I have spent countless hours among these amazing creatures and I am happy to share my knowledge with you so you can capture incredible images and have the experience of a lifetime.

Getting Here

These workshops originate in southeast Florida. If you are flying, fly direct into Orlando. From there, I suggest renting a car and heading into Vero Beach. All GPS systems will direct you to a toll road. Make sure your rental car has a toll pass or  you have a small amount of cash and change on hand to pay the tolls. $10.00 should be plenty.

Where Should You Stay?

I highly suggest staying at one of the many hotels in Vero Beach. Here is a list of hotels in the area:

Holiday Inn Express Vero Beach-West (I-95)
9400 19th Ln, Vero Beach, FL 32966
(772) 567-2500

Hampton Inn Vero Beach
9350 19th Ln, Vero Beach, FL 32966
(772) 770-4299

Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Vero Beach-I-95, FL
9330 19th Ln, Vero Beach, FL 32966
(772) 257-0252

Comfort Suites
9050 Americana Rd, Vero Beach, FL 32966
(772) 257-3400

If you want to stay on the beach, I highly suggest booking a room at Costa De Este.

What Should You Bring?

First and foremost, bring your sense of adventure. Bring your best long lens. As a bare minimum kit I suggest: One camera body, Telephoto Lens and a Tripod. Make sure you bring plenty of spare batteries and a lot of empty memory cards.

Clothing Choices

It doesn’t really get too cold in south Florida during fall or winter. It can get warm though. I suggest bringing clothing for both warm and cool environments.

  • I suggest long pants that are lightweight
  • Closed toe shoes that are comfortable along with comfy socks
  • A short sleeve shirt
  • A hat

Things to Consider

Florida is still very much a wild place. There are snakes, alligators and bugs. They are part of the local environment but nothing to worry about. In many cases, they make for excellent photography opportunities. Don’t be surprised though if we see all of the above mentioned animals during your workshop. In larger groups, I work with a spotter who will help keep eyes on everything around us!
