The Sony A7RIV needs no introduction. It is an amazing camera capable of capturing an incredible amount of detail at a blazing speed of 10 frames per second but getting the most out of this camera isn’t quite so easy. This guide will fix that problem by showing you exactly how I setup and use the Sony A7RIV to capture some incredible images.

This guide does not cover the topic of setting up and using the A7RIV to record video. This guide is intended for photography only.

This guide also assumes you have a full understanding of shutter speed, aperture, ISO and how all three of these variables affect your final images.

Included in this guide is my actual R4 setup file which you can use to load all of my settings directly into your A7RIV.

I watched Mark’s video on the A7RIV setup but I felt I I needed a text copy for my iPhone and iPad for reference. The guide comes in a PDF format so it stores easily on any device that can handle PDF’s.

The guide contains high quality images of the camera buttons and dials and images of the menu screens. Mark’s detailed explanations and pictures make the guide easy to follow.

This text guide mirrors Mark’s video. What is even better is that he includes the load file for the camera. Just put it in an SD card and navigate to the load/save settings of the camera’s menu and transfer it into the camera.

I did this then went page by page in Mark’s guide reading the explanations of the setting options. You may want to change some options to suit your shooting preferences.

Once you are comfortable with your specific settings, save them and create your own custom load file. At a minimum change the embedded photographer’s and copyright name to your own.

This is a bargain. Another well know photographer is charging $100 for his guide and he does not have the video nor does he include the settings load file.

All in all Mark’s guide quality and thoroughness surpassed my expectations . I enjoy Mark’s many wildlife videos and this is just another way of supporting him and his many instructional media presentations .
